Gormley takes Manhattan

Antony Gormley sculpture standing watch over Madison Square Park

I’ve been spending a lot of time this spring photographing Antony Gormley’s installation Event Horizon for Madison Square Park Conservancy. The show features 30 figures cast from the artist’s body and perched upon architecture surrounding the park and the entire flatiron district. Check out Sarah Butler’s review of the piece: http://wordbutler.wordpress.com/page/2/

Look for the catalog coming out soon with my photos and graphic design by Pentagram, should be great!

Ban in Metz

Just back from France where I photographed Shigeru Ban’s new Centre Pompidou in Metz. The museum contains  a trio of narrow stacked boxes that serve as the galleries. These box forms are cantilevered out from a central tower housing the elevators and stairways. The entire stack is covered in an elaborate and organic canopy of gigantic woven wooden timbers. The inspiration is taken from a Chinese hat. Its a crowd pleaser!
